2019-2020 WOrk Now on display!
In lieu of an end of the year art show, the VAPA team has put together a Virtual Showcase of the work students have been doing throughout the year. Unfortunately, due to current circumstances, performances were canceled and projects were left undone. Nonetheless, the VAPA team is proud of our students and just can't let their hard work go unrecognized. We would like to celebrate the process, rather than the product, therefore we have compiled finished and unfinished work, as well as representations of what they were learning in class. Hopefully this Virtual Showcase will at least provide a "taste" of the Arts program at Camarena and Hedenkamp while demonstrating why the arts are so important when teaching the whole child. We are proud to present our students' creativity and appreciation of the arts and can't wait to be back in the classroom with them. Please enjoy!

International Film Festival for children
Students created a storyboard, acted, filmed and edited a short video on how to be peaceful. The goal is to create a 30 second clip to compete in the film festival. We are still working on editing and possibly adding/changing scenes.

Modern dance: Ms. Edwards
Our theme for this years performance is High School Musical. The tap dancers are the first act and they represent the students at school in the movie. The dancers start tap dancing while sitting at their desks. This year was the first time using props and the students did an amazing job. While we did not get to finish, here is a practice video. Enjoy!

The next part of our performance is Hip Hop. These dancers represent the basketball players in High School Musical. The dancers had fun incorporating basketball and dance together.

In the next dance, the cheerleaders come out to perform "What Time Is It?" from High School Musical.

For the finale, all of the dancers were going to come out and dance to "We're All In This Together". Unfortunately, we do not have that video, but please enjoy some of the Camarena dance team members dancing at home.

Ballet: Technique is at the heart of all types of dancing and with good ballet technique you can not only master ballet but also learn a range of other types of dance with the strong foundation you put in place from your ballet classes.
